FIND REST

Then Jesus said, “COME TO ME, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. LET ME TEACH YOU, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will FIND REST for your souls” (Matthew 11:28-29). “I will give you rest…” is a promise no one else but Jesus has ever made, nor does anyone else other than Jesus have the power to promise it and make it good. Only "in Christ" will you find true rest for your soul, and this rest is not a place of cessation from work, but of refreshment and satisfaction for your soul whilst in work. Christ’s “rest” is not  “the rest of inactivity but of the harmonious working of all the faculties and affections—of will, heart, imagination, conscience—because each has found in God the ideal sphere for its satisfaction and development”  (J. Patrick, Hastings Bible. Dic.). Among other things, it speaks to that quality of mind which can be described as full of peace and contentment. “Rest
