THE FATHER OF LIGHTS

“ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. ” ( James 1:17 , ESV)  God whose we are and who we serve is good. It is His will to give good gifts to those who put their trust in Him and His gifts are perfect. There is never any sense of reluctance in Him when it comes to giving gifts to us, for “no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11). God is consistent in all His ways, but as James remarked, sometimes our own reluctance to ask or asking with a wrong motive will get in the way (James 4:2-3). What He has promised to give you, He will not turn away from. It is a fact that God is all-powerful, but His power is limited by His character. In other words, He will never change because it’s not in His nature to change; He cannot lie or alter the words He has spoken. He is “the Father of lights” and He “dwells in the light”. Hence He does not cast a shado

WHEN YOU ARE BEING WRONGED

“God will bless you, even if others treat you unfairly for being loyal to him.” (1 Peter 2:19, CEV) Of greater concern to every Christian in all our dealings with others, whether within or outside the church, is not primarily the nature of their attitude toward us or how they chose to treat us because of who we are or what we believe. It is rather our own attitude toward them and how we respond to them because these alone are we accountable for and in direct control of. The pertinent question is: will your response and attitude be an expression of loyalty to God or not?  The persecution and opposition we often encounter in life can make it difficult for us to stay loyal to God, because sometimes we want to take matters into our own hands and hit back in anger. But if we fail to make loyalty to God our utmost priority, then the “flesh”, that is, the sinful behaviour, character and attitude of the old nature, can easily gain the upper hand and interfere with our ability to live lives

OVERCOMERS OVERCOME!

“ You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. ” ( 1 John 4:4 , NKJV) “You are of God” means that you are born of God and belong to God. What follows this phrase then is spoken directly to every child of God. It says that the Christian, the child of God overcomes. How exciting and quite an inspiring thought! That the Christian is an overcomer is a spiritual reality which must be lived out and ought to become a manifest testimony, rather than a mere creed religiously cited and recited. And this goal will not be realized by presumptuously waiting passively for God to show a sign or by giving up at the slightest sign of resistance. It is going to be by grace through taking steps of faith! Christian, to be called an overcomer by God means that in His eyes you conquer, overpower, prevail, and triumph. That is the thought He thinks of you and that is what His grace is for. The Spirit of Christ which indwells you
