THE LORD WILL PROVIDE
“And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide”” (Genesis 22:13-14) There is nothing too hard for the Lord. There is no situation so challenging as to deny the Lord’s provision. The day Abraham took his son and went up the mountain according to the commandment he received from God, I can imagine that he was quite distressed, if only for a moment, by the thought that he was to offer Isaac on the altar of sacrifice as a consequence of the command of God. Yet during the course of the journey, Abraham’s faith for a different outcome was revealed when Isaac ventured to point out the obvious, saying, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” (Genesis 22:7).
