UNDER GRACE

“For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.” (Romans 6:14)
This awesome life-liberating statement about the believer’s reality is a consequence of the purpose for which Jesus Christ came into the world and His successful accomplishment of that purpose.

Jesus supernaturally entered this world with a distinct and divine purpose. He lived an extraordinary life and His teachings and miracles affirmed His deity and impacted lives.

Jesus died a vicarious death for the sin of humanity; by the glory of God He rose again from death as He predicted, led captivity captive and ascended into heaven from whence He came. And now, seated at the right hand of the Father on High, He brings everyone who calls upon His name under His grace.

There is nothing greater than grace! It is because of grace that sin and the consequences of sin no longer have dominion over those who are in Christ. The believer is no longer under the dominion of the situations of the fallen nature and the world which lies in darkness. Grace is God doing for us through Christ all that we are unable and incapable of doing for ourselves.

You who have believed in Christ are under grace. This grace is greater than all our sins and lifts us above the effects of sin. You have received grace that is sufficient for you in every circumstance and every situation; be it trials or troubles and storms of life!

Nothing is greater than God’s grace, so the believer must learn what is it means to live daily “under grace”. This is the truth Jesus intended for Paul to learn in 2 Corinthians 12 when Paul complained that, “…a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me” (v.7). The Lord Jesus reminded him about the sufficiency of the grace of God in every situation: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (v.7). No thorn in the flesh, no sin, no lack, nothing is greater than the grace of God.

Glory to God! When you are feeling weak, child of God, you can now say, “I am strong for I am under!” The finished work of Christ has brought us under this amazing grace. Christ has conquered sin, weakness and death; and in Him we have received grace that is sufficient to sail over every single hurdle we come across in life.

Child of God, reflect on what this truth means to you and shout out the praise of God today in the face of every circumstance declaring, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.

Surely, in Christ you are under grace and nothing is greater than God’s grace! Hallelujah!
